Born and raised in a small town just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, Alexis Reed was meant for much more than most gave her credit. Throughout her years in elementary, middle and high school, she was never particularly a brilliant student when it came to academics. Her grades were average and she was never one to participate in class on her own will. She was energetic and bubbly; school work was nothing of her interest and could only hold her attention for so long. For many years, she felt lost and was unable to find her groove. She bounced from clique to clique but somewhere along the line ran into issues with the other students, mostly due to her fickle and vivacious outlook on life and persona. It wasn’t until her senior year where she had found the light at the end of the tunnel for herself. Alexis had heard through the grapevine about auditions at the local theater for its fall production of Spring Awakening. Although acting was something she had never stepped foot in and the only singing she had ever done was behind the curtains in her shower, now seemed the time to take a leap of faith and that’s exactly what she did. She had practiced, gone and auditioned then had gotten a callback. It didn’t take long until Alexis had received the news that she had landed the role of Martha. With not one theatre credit on her resume and not an ounce of experience, this was the field in which Alexis had thrived in and found a passion for after just a short period of time. Her performance was captivating and earned her a few good reviews.

By the time graduation had come around, she had, by that time, auditioned for a total of eight shows. However, there had been a bit of a run-in between her new-found love for theatre and her acceptance into Columbia. The school’s guidance counselor suggested she attends Columbia to study their theatre program and after much thought, Alexis had made the brave decision to travel to the city that never sleeps to achieve the same dream thousands, if not, more had shared with her. Manhattan is nothing like her small hometown back in Ohio. Instead, it’s hectic and lively much like Alexis herself. Upon her arrival to New York, her first goal was finding a job in order to pay back her student loans. Once Alexis had found her rhythm in the city and adjusted to her new school, everything seemed set for her from that point, out. However, that was not the case. Reality began to set in and she had come to terms with the very small chance she actually had of making it in the entertainment industry. Alexis submitted her resume and headshot to several agencies in hopes that she could at least get her foot in the door before she was completely on her own after college. Luckily, someone had taken interest and called her in for an interview, signing her right off the bat. Since arriving in New York a few years ago, Alexis has performed in over nine local theatre productions, as well as a few walk-on roles in television shows and films. She continues to thrive in theatre and all it stands for. Despite the slim chances, Alexis doesn’t allow that to slow her down or dent her determination one bit.
